Over two decades ago, armed with a Master's in Computer Applications (MCA), I was working as a Network Engineer. While my colleagues were content maintaining hardware and ensuring maximum server uptime, I found myself obsessively curious about the actual data flowing through those networks. The internet was in its formative years, and the algorithms dictating how information was retrieved, sorted, and ranked were evolving at breakneck speed. Sitting idle was simply not in my nature; I needed to understand the mechanics beneath the surface.
What started as a free-time gig—reverse-engineering early search algorithms out of sheer curiosity—rapidly transformed into a lifelong pursuit. I taught myself the deep nuances of search engine optimization through rigorous trial, error, and heavy technical analysis. There were no shortcuts, no automated tools, and no "marketing gurus" to follow. There was only the code, the raw server logs, and the data.
